We Know You Have Questions So We’ve Compiled Common FAQ’s For You
Is there a minimum term contract?
Our Local Lead Gen SEO packages are delivered over a set period which is usually six months – although as each campaign is unique this can vary depending on the requirements, goals and competitiveness of the market online.
How long will it take to see results?
How quickly you see results and start climbing the rankings and being found by more prospects depends on many factors.
One of the primary factors is the competitiveness of the market that you are in, for many local businesses results will come relatively quickly due to the fact these markets are often not overly competitive, but again that does depend on the size of the town/city/suburb you are operating in. You will be given a an approximate idea of the timescales to meet certain milestones in the campaign once we have done a full audit and analysis.
If you are operating in one of the more competitive markets (for example insurance or software) it can take longer.
The other factor is the history of the website itself – has SEO been done before, and if so was it quality or spam?
Who creates the content?
Every piece of content – articles, PDF’s, press releases and videos – are created manually by our own experienced and specialist team.
Any images or photographs used in your SEO campaign comes from either our own royalty-free photography library or is purchased for your project. However if you have original images we recommend using those.
Are there any keywords that you cannot rank?
Yes, there are some restrictions on what we can do.
Firstly we assign keyword phrases exclusively to clients. That means that if you are targeting the exact same keyword as an existing client we will find you some alternative phrases or you will need to find an alternative provider.
Furthermore there will be certain Keyword phrases so competitive that it will not be possible to guarantee significantly increased rankings. In that scenario we will advise you of the fact and offer more viable keyword phrases for your campaign.
Finally we do not work on phrases that include the word “SEO”, or anything ‘unsavoury’ such as p0rn, gambling, pharmacy, or of course anything blatantly illegal.
How many links will I get?
This package is not just about links. Although links are still important there are a number of other factors that are just as influential as links.
In this package a lot of work is done on on-page optimisation, on Google’s local listings and on video and other sharing sites, so this package is about much more than links.
We also utilise paid traffic as well as remarketing and retargeting pixel technology to increase brand awareness and targeted visits.
However, regrading links; the days of quantity being a factor are long gone. We focus on quality – quality multi-media content syndicated to established and trusted websites.
When SEO packages are sold based on the number of backlinks the service is often using automated software and low-quality content to fulfill the order.
Lead Generation Websites SEO packages are different as we focus purely on quality content creation and syndication which we find delivers better results for longer.
Where is your team based?
Lead Generation Websites is based in London, UK and also has team members in Australia and USA. Our SEO operatives have all been hand recruited and given training by internationally acclaimed internet marketing experts before being assigned to our client campaigns.
What is SEO?
SEO is a process which aims to make a website more visible in Google and other search engines for relevant keywords.
The results are higher placement in search engines for certain keyword queries and so more visitors.
The crucial aspect is that these visitors are highly targeted and motivated.
In the UK Google owns such a huge market share – usually put at over 90% – that SEO is really GSO, or Google Search Optimisation
There are two distinct aspects to SEO: on-page and off-page,
On-page SEO is concerned with the elements of a web-page (and a website) itself.
On-page SEO focuses on;
- page titles
- page headings
- body copy
- content – originality and modality
- internal structure and linking
- page load speed
SEO Services – Keywords
Before any SEO work can take place keywords must be researched.
Keywords are the search terms that your target customers are typing into Google – before you do anything business-related on the internet you must establish which keywords your prospects are using to search for the products and services that you provide. These are the phrases that you will optimise your web pages for.
Urls, Page Titles, Headings & Copy
Google is essentially a huge machine, a robot. It is not human, it cannot assume or infer – it can only respond to signals and signs and the clearer the signals and signs the easier it is for Google to carry out its work.
Google is concerned with only one thing – the experience of the searcher. Its primary question, then, is; ‘How relevant and useful is your web page to what the searcher is looking for?”
If Google considers your webpages to be relevant then it will reward your site with good rankings.
The first thing Google checks is whether the relevant keywords are present in the crucial places – the meta-tags;
- page titles
- page headings
- image ALT tags
A page targeting a keyword will have an advantage if that word is present in the URL, the page title and headings on the page.
For example an article like this discussing SEO Services which is targeting the term ‘SEO Services UK’ should have the URL;
The page title should contain the term and ideally be between 40 and 70 characters, eg.;
SEO Services London: The Facts You Need To Know
The sub-headings on the page might be (I’ve used ones here that can be adapted to keywords about any service);
How to find SEO Services London
Evaluating SEO Services London
Issues with SEO Services London
Negotiating SEO Services London
And, finally, within the body of the article you may want the phrase – ‘SEO Services London’ – to appear a handful of times. Now, in all honesty, keyword density is not nearly as important as it once was and it is better to have a well-written and naturally flowing piece rather than something which is stuffed full of keywords but does not read so well for the human visitor.
Additionally images can be optimised using ALT tags. Google cannot ‘read’ images and so relies on these tags to describe the content of an image – using your keyword in these image tags further signposts to Google what your page is about. Vary your keywords slightly in your ALT tags, e.g. ‘effective SEO Services London’, ‘London SEO Services’, ‘SEO Services for London’, etc.
In terms of length experts generally recommend between 300 – 500 words per page, or article. This is based on the minimum number of words that a search engine needs to be able to accurately categorise your content, however since Google’s Panda update things have changed somewhat and the latest research suggests that articles with 1000 – 1500 words will rank much better than shorter articles. But of course, like everything, this is dependent on the competitiveness of the market you are operating in.
- select your target keyword phrase and use this as the page title
- write a relevant article title and 3 – 4 sub-headings all containing the keyword
- write relevant in-depth article of between 1000 – 1500 words
- use images and optimise ALT tags
Content multiplication – Create a PDF of the article, upload it to your server and link to it at the end of the article.
Record yourself reading the article and add it as an .mp3 file to the page – you can use ‘Audacity’ free recording software.
Use the recording to make a simple video with PowerPoint, upload to Slideshare.net and then embed on your page.
Google favours multi-media content so if you can have text, images, audio, video and PDFs Google will reward you with higher rankings.
Also Google monitors how long users spend on a webpage – if Google sees that many visitors go to a particular page and then leave within 20 seconds it assumes that the page is not relevant for that search term and rankings will suffer. Having different media, especially video and audio, keeps users on your page longer!
Internal linking – not something that is often talked about but is in fact a very effective way to show Google which pages are your most important. Just as in the wider web, Google has an overview of linking patterns on individual websites – if the majority of links are pointing to a small number of pages this indicates that these pages are more important and Google will serve these in the results accordingly.
So if you have a blog on your website, or a number of thematically linked content pages you should be linking to a primary page for that subject.
For example; this website sells three products/services;
- Worpdress websites
- targeted traffic packages
- WordPress & SEO training
The pages to drive qualified traffic to are the sales pages, therefore to alert Google to this all our blog posts about SEO and keyword research link to the Targeted Traffic sales pages. Articles about conversion optimisation all link to the website sales page.
With all these keyword-rich links from thematically relevant articles Google is getting all the signposts it needs to understand what my web pages are about. Now we turn to the off-page SEO to propel the pages to the first page of Google.
Off-page SEO is all about linking – how many backlinks do you have pointing to your page?
Generally speaking the website that has the most links will be placed higher in the search engines
What is a backlink?
A link is an image or set of characters (words & sentences) that when clicked open up a new webpage. This new page could be on the same website or on a different website.
A backlink is a link on a third party website that takes the user to your website. Google views these links as votes for a website as that webmaster is saying “Take a look at this website because it has some useful, relevant information on it.”
These incoming links became a significant factor in search engine rankings following a mathematical study on randomness that just happened to use the fledgling World Wide Web as the subject.
A first it was assumed that the web would be randomly interconnected, that there would be no real order but a chaotic ‘spaghetti bowl’. However when it was analysed via a computer program it was found that there was order to linking, that some sites were ‘hubs’, or authority sites, which were sucking links to them like some kind of virtual black hole.
As a result of this finding it became apparent that this natural order of linking could inform search engine ranking algorithms – the sites that had the most links pointing to them were evidently the sites holding the best content and therefore the most value and so Google rewarded those sites with high rankings.
These days Google is a lot more sophisticated, but backlinks remain the single biggest off-page ranking factor. Certain social media activity has become more influential recently but backlinks are still the number one factor that drive rankings in organic search results.
Backlinks Are Not Created Equal
There are two primary factors which determine how powerful a backlink is;
- where the link has come from
- the actual text used in the link
The higher the ‘trust rank’, or authority, of the site giving the link, the more powerful it is. A link from a well-established site is worth far more than a link from a brand new website.
As well as the authority of a site we must also consider the subject matter – sites that have similar subject matter to your site provide better backlinks than other sites.
The final variable is the actual text used in the link itself. A link that uses the words ‘click here’, or ‘read more’ is too general, it is MUCH better to use a keyword in the link rather than a generic phrase.
However, a natural backlink profile will have some generic links, some keyword links and the majority will be branded links – the brand name or website URL.
Google’s Penguin algorithm monitors the anchor-text ratios in a website’s link profile and penalises websites for “unnatural linking patterns” so it is important to keep keyword anchor text within the accepted ratios.
How do I get links?
Links can be gathered naturally by having great content and syndicating it on social media – other websites will be happy to link to you if you provide top-quality content that is useful and relevant to their readers.
Links can be also be manufactured and these days this is pretty much a necessity for any website wishing to beat their competitors to have a link building strategy – the key is to look natural – build links slowly and consistently.
You can create good links on;
- moderated business directories
- social media sites
- video sharing sites
- quality blog comments
- web 2.0 sites
- PDF sharing sites
- guest blogging sites
